Highland Students Continue to "Be the Good"
It’s Giving Tuesday! Giving Tuesday kicks off the charitable season, when
many focus on their holiday and end-of-year giving. Many Highland students are already in the giving spirit. Early in the year Highland Student Council selected “Be the Good” as this year’s theme. The students in the video below along with several of their friends, started on Halloween. Since then, advisory groups have started challenging each other to adopt a cause for the holiday season. Key Club (featured below) will be collecting food items through Christmas break. Misti Carter’s advisory is collecting new Legos (ages 6+) to send to Arkansas Children’s Hospital through Dec. 9. Vicki Brink’s advisory is collecting items for our school’s backpack program. Rebecca Schaeffer’s advisory and A.K. Barnes’ advisory are preparing and collecting “Holiday Mail for Heroes” – a program that sends holiday greetings to active duty military. National Honor Society is sending games, goodies, and Christmas cards to military personnel stationed overseas. Student Council has adopted angels from the “Angel Tree Program” to help provide Christmas presents to foster children in our area. How do you plan to be the good this holiday season? If you would like to be a part of any of these efforts, let us know, and we will get you more information.
Our mock elections went really well!
