Superintendent - Don Sharp

The Superintendent of the Highland School District is Mr. Don Sharp. He had 25 years of experience as a Superintendent in three Arkansas public school districts (Wilburn, Quitman, and most recently Cotter) prior to being employed as the Superintendent of the Highland District in August of 2016.

Mr. Sharp is a member of several professional and civic organizations. He has been a member of the Arkansas Rural Education Association for 25 years and is a past president. He recently served on the AASA Board of Directors for the Arkansas Association of Educational Administrators of which he’s been a member for 28 years. He was a 14-year member of the Cotter/Gassville Area Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Sharp recently transferred his 11-year rotary club membership from Mountain Home to the Quad Cities Rotary Club. He was recently selected to serve on the Board of Directors for the Food bank of North Central Arkansas. He is also a member of several other organizations.

Mr. Sharp has received recognition and awards from several organizations throughout the years. Most recently he was named 2017 Individual Member of the Year by the Spring River Area Chamber of Commerce. Other highlights include being named Arkansas Superintendent of the Year in 2016 by the Arkansas Rural Education Association, as a 2016 Modern Woodmen Hometown Hero, as a finalist for the Mountain Home Chamber of Commerce Educator of the year in 2014, and in 2006 named the Northwest District Superintendent of the Year by the Arkansas Rural Education Association.
